About me

To travel and see the world, look beyond borders and explore people, cultures, countries and the fascinating diversity of our planet – this has always been my passion. And it was for this passion, that I dared to give up the security of a fix job as editor at a local newspaper more than two decades ago, follow my dreams and work as a freelance and internationally active journalist. The decisive start-up aid was provided by the Heinz-Kühn-Stiftung of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which granted me a research scholarship in Vietnam. Months of residence in an exciting new culture and environment have become years of fascination for many countries in the Global South ever since. Apart from Southeast Asia, I researched as a print and radio journalist in numerous other parts of the world, especially in Latin America and Africa. The everyday life of the people there, the social and political conditions on the ground formed the core of my reports. Development cooperation, poverty alleviation, human rights, world trade, fair trade and much more – I had found a broad, exciting and often politically explosive topic.

Curiosity, the necessary amount of tenacity and a sensitive yet critical view of things – equipped with these characteristics, my path soon led me to the next step. I developed a career as professional moderator and facilitator of political talks, high-level panel debates, events and workshops – on national as well as international level. It also gives me great pleasure to share my experiences from the wide world of communication as a media trainer, communications consultant or editorial service provider for a wide range of customers. If it is heterogeneous, intercultural and multilingual, the better! After all, I have long since felt at home in many parts of the world – first and foremost in Brussels, where I spend a big deal of my professional and private life since 2012.

Thinking outside the box, breaking down boundaries and sharing an everlasting passion for the beautiful diversity of this world – this approach has always been at the core of my work and will remain there.
